Guides Elisabet Lind and Eva Wrede take you on an exciting, informative and enjoyable walk in the central parts of Enköping. The story of Enköping's famous parks and the city's long, exciting history are interspersed.
The walk goes through the older parts where the city grew up in the early Middle Ages, Eva tells about how people lived here from the Middle Ages onwards and how the city developed due to trade, monasticism, horseradish cultivation and how Enköping was put on the map because of a wrench.
Elisabet tells the story of how an innovative urban gardener came to town, started and drove through the transformation that today has become Enköping's major tourist attraction. She talks about how perennials, shrubs, trees and bulbs are combined to create different spaces and environments. About how perennials are used in large areas all over the city, in parks, in roundabouts, in refuges, along streets and in squares.
The walk is 1½ km, goes at a leisurely pace and ends in Drömparken. Start at Kaplanen next to Pepparrotsstadens Trädgård & Hantverk and Enköping's museum. Register via the ticket link. Fee 150 SEK/person.
