There have been a number of film adaptations of Marie Antoinette, and each production has claimed to be historically accurate. Yet we can clearly tell when a movie is made in the 1930s or the 2000s. In our time, the hit series Bridgerton has deliberately chosen to work with costumes inspired by contemporary fashion trends.
