We will return to Food & People in 2023.
Pulled lamb with honey yogurt, freshly baked waffles with jam, Great-grandmother's sauerkraut soup, a buffet of crispy biscuits, Toast the Forest with smoked game meat, vegetable steaks, gray pea hummus and much more are on the menu for this year's edition of Food & People. In total, almost 30 farms, cafés, food artisans and restaurants took part.
In each location visitors could buy a small appetizer for just SEK 40 and taste some of the food grown, raised, processed and served in Fjärdhundraland.
Åsa Eriksson from Stockholm is one of the thousands of visitors. For several years, she has made a September trip to visit the event. The first time it was mainly to visit some friends who had moved to Fjärdhundraland, but the visit was rewarding.
- Then I discovered how many interesting places there are in Fjärdhundraland that I didn't know about at all. I also like being able to visit several producers in one day and that several of them are close to each other," says Åsa Eriksson.
Nowadays she carries a cooler and takes the opportunity to buy plenty of vegetables, meat, milk and other dairy products.
Food & People is also about to get to know the people behind the food and to learn about all the food knowledge available. You can get recipes and cooking tips, advice on how best to smoke your meat, brew your tea or make the most of the harvest in the form of souring, drying and pickling. There will be tours of Reuterwall's school garden from 1870 and of Landsberga's farm mill, but also of crops, wetlands, animals and landscapes. And much more.
- We know that there is a great interest in food knowledge among consumers and therefore it feels natural to devote public education to food, says Thomas Björk, who is chairman of Fjärdhundraland.
Food & People is the event where you taste your way through the countryside. The menu of all participants' tasting plates will be released a few weeks before the event, so you can either plan your route according to the dishes you're craving, or you can take it as it comes. Either way, it's sure to be delicious and enjoyable!
- Food & People is a Saturday at the end of September every year. In 2024, it is Saturday, September 21.
- Each location has a tasting plate available for purchase.
- Navigate using the Fjärdhundraland map or mobile maps via the website.
- All info is available at matomanniskor.se
