Right by the Hjulstabron bridge is a large area with beautiful pastures and lush oak forests. The peace is slightly disturbed by the fact that the area is divided in half by road 55, but don't let that stop you. Here you can wander around among large giant oaks or fragrant meadow flowers, depending on which side of the road you choose.
The impressive oak trees are many hundreds of years old and contain a wealth of life, using every part of the tree. Even after the tree has fallen, it provides a habitat for animals, plants and fungi for another couple of hundred years. Some live among the leaves, others on or in the bark, and still others inside the cavities of old oaks. Most of these inhabitants are so small that you may not even see them, but if you smell leather, you have come across the rare leather beetle that has a sanctuary in Hjulsta!
