For Mats Flodin, creativity and reuse are key ingredients when designing and building his timeless furniture with the motto Design for the mindful. He believes that good design is a combination of form and function, where the result should appeal to our senses. The small details are more important than the big appeal.
He often uses high quality, old shredded wood in the newly made furniture, giving it the fine patina of age and creating stories from the past to the present. Mats chooses wood types according to suitability and feeling - birch for light, untreated furniture that needs a hard surface, oak for furniture that signals weight, while pine is used for more classic Swedish design. For his more modern, playful furniture with an industrial look, he uses birch plywood.
The Wood Shop offers tables, sofas and sideboards but also smaller items such as lamps and cutting boards. If you are missing something in the range, Mats also makes many items to order.
