When Åsa Ögren and her family moved to Veckholm, she finally had room to set up her grandmother's loom, which she inherited 25 years earlier. In weaving, Åsa found her artistic form of expression and with threads she slowly creates images and poetry inspired by nature in a longing and search for a sustainable way of life.
In the oldest house on the farm, she has opened a gallery for her tapestries and embroidery. Plant-dyed yarn in various colors is also available for purchase. She uses recycled fabrics, or fabrics she has woven, to sew wallets, tote bags, heating pads and other items, and she also makes knitted and felted mittens.
Åsa is a trained handicraft instructor and holds courses in plant dyeing, knitting and embroidery. She likes to experiment and test what colors can be obtained from plants to dye yarn and fabrics with.
