Örsundsbro is a community strategically located between Enköping and Uppsala, by road 55 that we travel on today, and by Örsundaån which was the Vikings' motorway.
Örsundsbro - a trading place
Örsundsbro is a trading place with very old origins. It all started with a bridge being built over the Örsundaån river around eight hundred years ago. The flat area on the south side of the bridge, which today is the square, already became a meeting and market place. Communications were good in several directions and there were no city customs. It attracted traders far and wide.
Ever since the Viking Age, this place has been interesting. Then you traveled on Örsundaån - today it is road 55 between Enköping and Uppsala which is the Örsundsbroarnas fairway. Many commute to Uppsala and Enköping and live in Örsundsbro and enjoy the charm of the small community.
Every year the market is organized Mickelsmäss in Örsundsbro which attracts about 25,000 people to society.
Attractions in Örsundsbro
In Örsundsbro is available The Old Cinema in Örsundsbro, a cinema museum showing films on summer evenings, Salnecke castle with fine Salnecke castle café, Kappen which is a small museum that shows what a country store looked like in the past, on the site of Sweden's first cooperative business. Lagunda hometown association works to tell about the area and has, among other things, made a sign system with historical facts, which is based on the Cape.
