Swimming, hiking, picking berries, barbecuing... the full-day excursion goes to Härjarö! The nature reserve is a long, narrow wooded headland, so the water is never far away with beautiful views of Lake Mälaren. Äppelnäsgrund is a lovely little swimming spot if you're longing for a day at the beach.
There are plenty of marked trails and it's easy to get around the area. Unfortunately, the spruce bark beetle is rampant in the forest, so some parts may be closed off for safety reasons, but Härjarö is so large that you can still find your own favorite spot.
The Upplandsleden has its southernmost starting point in Härjarö. From here you can hike up through Trögden to Enköping and further north.
