The entire nature reserve actually consists of more than 20 islands in Lake Mälaren, but even if you don't have access to a boat, there is plenty to see and do on Ängsö itself. For example, you can hike, cycle, fish or just relax on a cliff by the water. The landscape on Ängsö is old-fashioned with grazed pastures and cute cottages next to small crunchy gravel roads.
There are plenty of unusual plants to look at and both animal and bird life is abundant. You might see a sea eagle soaring over the water or meet deer in the forest.
There are plenty of information boards and parking lots in the reserve. Follow one of the six hiking trails to get a good overview of the area. Here you can find hiking maps
